VETERANS CALL OUT OBERNOLTE FOR LYING TO VOTERS
Chris Bubser Launches Second TV AD Highlighting Opponent’s Hypocrisy and Abysmal Veterans Record
September 29, Victorville, CA -- Today, the campaign of Chris Bubser, a healthcare expert and small businesswoman, released its second television advertisement in advance of the November 3rd general election. Bubser is running against Assemblyman Jay Obernolte to fill the open seat for Congress in California’s 8th District.
While Obernolte has written two editorials touting his supposed commitment to stopping the closure of the Barstow Veterans home, Obernolte’s actual voting record shows that he voted against funding the home four times. The 30 second advertisement features four veterans representing the U.S. Army and Marine Corps who live in the district setting the record straight.
“Jay Obernolte has made support for our veterans a central talking point of his campaign. But actions speak louder than words, and his votes to cut benefits for veterans speaks volumes,” said Bubser.
This ad comes on the heels of non-partisan research group Vote Smart publicly condemning Obernolte for sharing “information he knows to be false”, sending a mail piece that “deliberately deceives voters,” and using Vote Smart’s name to give credibility to his false attacks. Vote Smart also emphasized that this blatant misuse of their name and research happens in less that .05% in races nationally, underscoring how outlandish this misinformation tactic is.
