For Immediate Release
November 5th, Victorville, CA — Today the campaign of Chris Bubser, running to represent California’s 8th Congressional District announced that U.S. Representative Mike Levin (CA-49) has endorsed Chris and her effort to flip her district blue, as he did with his in 2018.
This endorsement comes on the heels of the Bubser campaign’s announcement that delegates to the California Democratic Party unanimously voted to “pre-endorse” Chris Bubser in her run to represent California’s 8th district in Congress.
“I'm proud to endorse Chris. I look forward to working alongside her in Congress to protect and preserve our natural resources, combat the climate crisis, and advance clean energy.” said Representative Levin. “As the Representative of a district with a vital military base like we have here in the 49th, I know Chris will be a crucial ally on the issues that impact our military and veteran communities. Together we will work to improve veteran services and healthcare, expand job opportunities for the women and men who have selflessly served our country, and address the impact of climate change on our national security." Representative Levin’s district is home to Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base and California’s 8th district is home to the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Barstow, the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center in Bridgeport, Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, and the Army's Fort Irwin National Training Center near Barstow.
Last month Rep. Levin led the California Democratic Congressional Delegation in sending a letter to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Andrew Wheeler expressing strong opposition to the Trump Administration’s series of politically-motivated attacks on the state, which have been made under the false pretense of protecting the state’s air and water. He was joined by 42 other California members.
“I was galvanized by Representative Levin’s focus on the climate during the 2018 elections and am supportive of his recent letter to the EPA opposing the Administration’s assault on California’s climate change leadership. His career has been anchored in environmental protection and clean energy so he will be an important ally and mentor as I seek to bring to bring new clean tech jobs to the 8th. His strength and courage are what we need as we fight for the future of our planet so I’m extremely honored by his endorsement of my campaign.”
The 8th District stretches along much of California’s eastern border, and includes parts of San Bernardino County, and all of Inyo and Mono counties. The district includes, among others, the communities of Adelanto, Apple Valley, Barstow, Bishop, Calimesa, Hesperia, Highland, Lone Pine, Mammoth Lakes, Needles, Trona, Twentynine Palms, Victorville, Yucaipa and Yucca Valley, and Joshua Tree and Death Valley National Parks.
