Global Strategy Group Memo illustrates path forward for Democrat Chris Bubser as Incumbent announces retirement (CA-08)
September 17, 2019; Victorville, CA— In light of today's announcement that Congressman Paul Cook will not seek re-election. Chris Bubser for Congress cites Global Strategy Group's viability memo released in August, 2019. The memo outlines the path to victory for a Democrat in California's 8th district. Chris Bubser is the only Democrat running.
The memo highlights numerous districts with comparable Partisan Voter Index scores to flip from red top blue in 2018. Including GA-6, NM-2, NY-22, OK-5, SC-1, TX-7, UT-4, and VA-7.
Highlights from the release include Party registration trending away from Republicans and an increasingly diverse electorate. Additionally, the Republican registration advantage in CA-08 is only four points – two points better than CA-45 and nearly five points better than CA-48 were last November when Democrats successfully flipped both districts.
