Lt. Governor Eleni Kounalakis Endorses Chris Bubser for Congress
Momentum for Bubser’s Bid for Congress Continues to Grow Ahead of March 3rd Primary
February 25, Victorville, CA - The campaign of Chris Bubser, running for California’s 8th Congressional District, announced today that she has been endorsed by Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis. Kounalakis is the second highest officeholder in California. Bubser is also the candidate of choice of the California Democratic Party and many state, local and federal officials throughout the State.
“I am proud to endorse Chris Bubser for Congress,” said Lt. Governor Kounalakis. “I’ve been working with veterans advocates in the Victorville area, and they’ve made it clear that they believe in Chris’s message and in her ability to win. In Congress, I know Chris will fight to expand access to affordable healthcare and work to protect the abundant public lands of the 8th, all while keeping a focus on developing sustainable local economies for the 21st century.”
“It is an honor to receive the endorsement of the highest-ranking woman ever elected in the State of California,” said Bubser. “She is an accomplished role model and public servant who has demonstrated leadership in areas of importance to our district and all Californians, like housing affordability, early childhood education, and the protection of our environment.”
Ambassador Eleni Kounalakis was sworn in as the 50th Lieutenant Governor of California by Governor Gavin Newsom on January 7th, 2019. She is the first woman elected Lt. Governor of California. From 2010 to 2013, Kounalakis served as President Barack Obama’s Ambassador to the Republic of Hungary.
The Lt. Governor’s endorsement follows that of California State Controller Betty Yee, who recently visited Bubser’s Victorville campaign headquarters to meet with volunteers.
The 8th Congressional District stretches along much of California’s eastern border, and includes parts of San Bernardino County, and all of Inyo and Mono counties. The district includes, among others, the communities of Adelanto, Apple Valley, Barstow, Bishop, Hesperia, Highland, Lone Pine, Mammoth Lakes, Needles, Trona, Twentynine Palms, Victorville, Yucaipa, and Yucca Valley, and Joshua Tree and Death Valley National Parks.
