DEMOCRAT CHRIS BUBSER WINS ENDORSEMENT FROM EQUALITY CALIFORNIA
Bubser Vows to Protect and Expand Rights for the LGBTQ Community Nationwide
For Immediate Release
December 10, Victorville, CA - Today the nation’s largest statewide LGBTQ civil rights organization, Equality California announced its endorsement of Chris Bubser in her campaign to represent California’s 8th congressional district.
“Chris has made access to quality, affordable health care central to her campaign — a critical issue for our LGBTQ community,” said Equality California Executive Director Rick Zbur. “In Congress, we know that she will work hard to pass the Equality Act and oppose anti-LGBTQ discrimination in every sphere of life. Chris is the pro-equality champion that voters in California’s 8th district deserve."
“Like most Americans, I have family and friends who are members of the LGBTQ community, so this endorsement is personal to me. I couldn’t be prouder to have the support of Equality California,” said Bubser. “I will adamantly fight for equality for all and advocate for the passage of the Equality Act (HR-5). Earlier in my career, I worked to advance new treatments for HIV, so I am absolutely committed to ensuring that access to affordable healthcare and medications addresses this community without discrimination.”
Bubser added, “My opponents in this race, Tim Donnelly and Jay Obernolte, have been very public in their opposition for the equal protection and treatment of the LGBTQ community. Donnelly has promoted discrimination against transgender service members with billboards around the district, and Obernolte has supported legislation to promote so-called ‘gay conversion therapy.’ We must not allow hate to win over inclusion and acceptance.”
