CHRIS BUBSER WINS SIERRA CLUB ENDORSEMENT
California 8th Democrat is the Candidate of Choice To Work on
Climate Change Solutions, Protect Public Lands
January 30, Victorville, CA -- Chris Bubser, a Mammoth Lakes resident and Democrat running to represent California’s 8th Congressional district, was endorsed today by the Sierra Club, the nation’s largest grassroots environmental organization with over three million members and supporters, and 64 local chapters nationwide. Bubser has also received the endorsements of the California League of Conservation Voters and the California Democratic Party.
“Chris Bubser is the environmental champion that is needed in a district that is home to so many environmental treasures,” said Sierra Club Political Team member Jono Hildner. “The Sierra Club is proud to endorse Chris for Congress, and we will mobilize our members to make sure she’s elected.”
“The endorsement of the Sierra Club is incredibly meaningful to my family, as we have been members of this important organization for many years,” said Bubser. “Science has revealed that climate disruption is our greatest environmental threat and anyone who represents California’s 8th must fight for bold and actionable solutions to save our precious public lands for future generations.”
Chris added, “As an environmental champion, I will prioritize tackling the climate crisis and pollution, and advance the development of clean energy jobs in our district. We do not have to choose between a clean environment and a strong economy. And without hesitation, I will vote to fully fund the Environmental Protection Agency and to stop the rollback of regulations and enforcement efforts that mitigate the impact of climate change. When we protect our air, land, and water, we are saving lives.”
In its 2018 Sierra Club scorecard, Chris’ GOP opponent Jay Obernolte received an abysmally low rating of only 9% for his environmental record. “And, we can be certain that any one of the Republican candidates will support the ongoing extraction of minerals and water that have degraded the Mojave and Eastern Sierra, and most famously, the Owens Valley,” said Charlie Baran, a spokesperson for the Bubser campaign.
The 8th District stretches along much of California’s eastern border, and includes parts of San Bernardino County, and all of Inyo and Mono counties. The district includes, among others, the communities of Adelanto, Apple Valley, Barstow, Bishop, Hesperia, Highland, Lone Pine, Mammoth Lakes, Needles, Trona, Twentynine Palms, Victorville, Yucaipa, and Yucca Valley, and Joshua Tree and Death Valley National Parks.
