Chris Bubser Wins Endorsement of the National Union of Healthcare Workers
Bubser Has Emerged as the Labor Candidate in CA-08
February 27, Victorville, CA -- The campaign of Chris Bubser, Democrat running for Congress in California’s 8th Congressional District announced today that she has received the endorsement of the National Union of Healthcare Workers (NUHW). The union, with more than 15,000 members, recognized that Bubser was the only candidate in CA-8 with a combined expertise in healthcare and commitment to defending the rights of workers.
“The National Union of Healthcare Workers is proud to endorse Chris Bubser,” said Sal Rosselli, President, NUHW. “She understands what it’s like for a family to struggle to afford healthcare. As a vocal advocate of workers rights and a staunch defender of affordable healthcare for all, Chris has demonstrated she is a candidate who can be trusted.”
“I’m proud to have the support of the men and women who tirelessly work to take care of families and provide them with the care they deserve,” said Bubser. “My Republican opponents will stand by their GOP lawmakers who have demonstrated that they will stop at nothing to rip healthcare coverage and protections for working families. I will stand up to big insurance and prescription drug companies to reduce healthcare costs. And I’ll fight to advance the dignity, worth and health of both our patients and their caregivers.”
Bubser added, “I believe that unions and the powers of workers provide the foundation of a just and more economically equitable society. I will stand by NUHW as I do all unions to ensure that workers rights are respected.”
Bubser has amassed the support of nearly 30 labor organizations all of which are working to make sure that access to affordable healthcare is available to their members. She entered the race after fighting the repeal of ACA and has made healthcare a key pillar of her campaign pledge to the people in her district.
The NUHW membership includes medical technicians and technologists, clerical workers, psychologists, pharmacists, housekeepers, dietary workers, nurses, nursing assistants, drug rehabilitation counselors, mental health clinicians and engineers.
The 8th Congressional District stretches along much of California’s eastern border, and includes parts of San Bernardino County, and all of Inyo and Mono counties. The district includes, among others, the communities of Adelanto, Apple Valley, Barstow, Bishop, Hesperia, Highland, Lone Pine, Mammoth Lakes, Needles, Trona, Twentynine Palms, Victorville, Yucaipa, and Yucca Valley, and Joshua Tree and Death Valley National Parks.
