CHRIS BUBSER POSTS LARGEST FUNDRAISING QUARTER IN CA-08 HISTORY
Bubser Pulls In $456,000; More Than 3X Her Opponent in Last Quarterly Report Before Election
October 19th, Victorville, CA— Democrat Chris Bubser, a healthcare professional and small businesswoman running for Congress in CA-08 has raised $456,000 in the last quarterly report before the general election. Bubser received more than $350,000 into her candidate committee, setting a record for the most raised since the district was created in 2012. In addition, Bubser amassed an additional $105,000 from nearly 450 individual donors into the Chris Bubser Victory Fund.
“The people of California's 8th Congressional District know that I am not beholden to large corporate donors and special interests like my opponent is. I am honored by their support and will always follow the facts, not politics, to fight for quality affordable healthcare, protect the benefits that seniors and veterans have earned, and allow working families to get ahead in this district.”
In the 3rd fundraising quarter Bubser’s opponent, Assemblyman Jay Obernolte, continued to take campaign cash from corporate special interests. Obernolte accepted donations from the NRA and from mortgage lenders who defrauded the American public during the financial crisis. Previously, Obernolte had accepted $42,000 in campaign contributions from Big Oil, $21,300 from tobacco companies, and he illegally traveled by private jet to a corporate fundraiser. Chris Bubser is keeping her commitment to reject corporate PAC money.
This commitment is underlined by the groundswell of support Bubser has received from within the district. In the most recent filing period Bubser received more than 1000 contributions from individuals in CA-08. By comparison, her opponent only reported 27 in-district donors. Heading into the final two weeks before election day, Bubser has reported more individual support in every city of the 33,000 square foot district; even reporting 6x the amount of support from Big Bear Lake, where Obernolte was formerly Mayor.
