CHRIS BUBSER ENDORSED BY CONGRESSMAN PETE AGUILAR
Inland Empire Rep. Leads Democrats’ Efforts to Flip Districts in 2020
February 3, Victorville, CA -- Today Democrat Chris Bubser, running for Congress in California’s 8th District, announced that U.S. Representative Pete Aguilar (CA-31) has endorsed her campaign. Representative Aguilar, a rising star in the Democratic party, represents California’s 31st District. Aguilar's endorsement comes on the heels of endorsements from other members of the Southern California Democratic delegation including Reps. Linda Sánchez (CA-38), Judy Chu (CA-27), Raul Ruiz (CA-36), Ted Lieu (CA-33), Julia Brownley (CA-26), Mike Levin (CA-49), Katie Porter (CA-45), and Gil Cisneros (CA-39). Bubser also has the endorsement of the California Democratic Party, the California Federation of Teachers and most of the major labor unions, as well as the Sierra Club and other leading issue-based groups.
“I am proud to endorse Chris Bubser to represent the hard-working people of her district,” said Rep. Aguilar. “In Congress, Chris will take on powerful Washington special interests, expand access to affordable healthcare, improve public education and protect our public lands.”
“I’m honored to have Congressman Aguilar’s support,” said Bubser. “His legislative priorities mirror my own in so many ways. Lowering the cost of prescription drugs and healthcare through bipartisan cooperation, fighting for a fairer economy for California families, and standing up for veterans and seniors will be critical issues that I look forward to tackling with Rep. Aguilar.”
Bubser added, “For too long, the people in the 8th have had a representative that never met with them, never held town halls and couldn’t look them in the face when he voted to take healthcare away from one-hundred thousand of them. Like Pete, I will work every day for all 720,000 residents of my district, and never anyone, or anything else.”
Rep. Aguilar’s 31st District shares a border with the 8th, and includes the cities of Redlands, Rancho Cucamonga, parts of San Bernardino, and others. Aguilar was first elected in 2014. In 2019 Aguilar was appointed by DCCC Chairwoman Cheri Bustos to co-lead Congressional Democrats’ candidate recruitment efforts in 2020.
The 8th congressional district stretches along much of California’s eastern border, and includes parts of San Bernardino County, and all of Inyo and Mono counties. The district includes, among others, the communities of Adelanto, Apple Valley, Barstow, Bishop, Hesperia, Highland, Lone Pine, Mammoth Lakes, Needles, Trona, Twentynine Palms, Victorville, Yucaipa, and Yucca Valley, and Joshua Tree and Death Valley National Parks.
