CHRIS BUBSER ENDORSED BY CALIFORNIA DEMOCRATIC PARTY
Democrats Across the State Back Bubser to Flip 8th Congressional District
For Immediate Release
November 19, 2019, Victorville, CA - The California Democratic Party has formally endorsed Chris Bubser in her race to fill the CA-08 seat left vacant by Rep. Paul Cook. The endorsement follows Bubser’s unanimous recommendation by party delegates from the congressional district in October.
“I am honored to have the support of the California Democratic Party, and of all of the voting delegates from the 8th,” said Bubser. “This is more than an endorsement of my campaign. This is a sign that Democrats are ready to unite--and win--in California’s 8th. And even more than that, it’s a sign that our message of expanding access to affordable healthcare, reducing prescription drug prices, bringing more 21st century jobs to our district, and protecting our abundant public lands is resonating across the district, and across the state.”
The endorsement of the California Democratic Party was granted at its convention in Long Beach, November 15-17. Leaders of the three county Democratic central committees in the district have praised Chris as well.
"Ms. Bubser is running a truly impressive campaign in the 8th and I'm so glad to see her investing heavily in the High Desert communities of San Bernardino, where the majority of CA-08 voters live," said Chris Robles, Chair of the San Bernardino County Democratic Central Committee. "I'm thrilled that she has received the endorsement of our party."
“Chris is not only my friend and neighbor in Mammoth Lakes,” said Mono County Democratic Central Committee Chair Lou Stewart, “she is a tireless campaigner and fundraiser. Chris has what it takes to flip the 8th in 2020 and deliver real leadership for the people of our district. The fact that she was endorsed unanimously by Democratic delegates throughout the district speaks to her strength and appeal across CA-08.”
“In our rural county, we often don’t hear from candidates or office-holders at the federal level,” said Nina Weisman, Chair of the Inyo County Democratic Central Committee. “That’s not the case with Chris though. She’s made a point to engage early and often in Inyo County and local Democrats couldn’t be happier about her endorsement by the party.”
“As President of the Yucaipa-Calimesa Democratic Club, and the 1st Vice Chair of the San Bernardino County Democratic Central Committee, I have seldom seen a better articulated campaign than that of Chris Bubser’s,” said Mark Westwood, General Manager of KCAA and KQLH radio stations. “We've found Chris to be a refreshing delight. Chris is great on the issues, and she's running from the heart. That's why I’m proud to support her. I am also happy to announce that the members of the Yucaipa-Calimesa Democratic Club also unanimously endorsed Chris at our last meeting.”
Support for Bubser has been growing outside the district as well. She has been endorsed by U.S. Representatives Raul Ruiz (CA-36), Julia Brownley (CA-26), Ted Lieu (CA-33), Katie Porter (CA-45), Mike Levin (CA-49), and Gil Cisneros (CA-39). Labor is also getting behind Chris with endorsements from the Inland Empire Labor Council (AFL-CIO), IBEW 47, and IUPAT District Council 36.
The 8th District stretches along much of California’s eastern border, and includes parts of San Bernardino County, and all of Inyo and Mono counties. The district includes, among others, the communities of Adelanto, Apple Valley, Barstow, Bishop, Hesperia, Highland, Lone Pine, Mammoth Lakes, Needles, Trona, Twentynine Palms, Victorville, Yucaipa, and Yucca Valley, and Joshua Tree and Death Valley National Parks.
