CHRIS BUBSER ADDS ENDORSEMENT OF REP. TED LIEU TO GROWING LIST OF CONGRESSIONAL SUPPORT

Democratic Leader Sees Immense Potential in Bubser Candidacy
For Immediate Release
October 3, 2019, Victorville, CA - Support for Chris Bubser’s run for California’s 8th district continues to grow at a rapid rate. Today Representative Ted Lieu (CA-33) announced his endorsement of Bubser’s campaign. This follows the news earlier this week that Representatives Katie Porter (CA-45), Raul Ruiz (CA-36), Katie Hill (CA-25), and Gil Cisneros (CA-39), are supporting Chris’s campaign to represent California’s 8th District, which will be open following the retirement of the current representative, Col. Paul Cook.
Rep. Ted Lieu served as Assistant Democratic Whip in the 115th Congress and represents most of coastal Los Angeles County. “Chris is a vocal and passionate supporter of taking on the most important issue of our time - climate change," said Rep. Lieu. "She understands that failing to protect our climate will endanger not just her district but everything our country holds dear— our national security, our economy, our children’s future. I look forward to working with her on bold solutions to curb the impact of climate change."
“Congressman Lieu is a true leader in Congress and in the communities he represents. I am deeply grateful for his endorsement,” said Bubser. “It is public servants like Representative Lieu who inspired me to run. I can’t wait to work with him in Congress to deliver for the people of California and the United States.”
Rep. Lieu is a prodigious fundraiser, and has sought to be a resource for Democrats running in Republican-held California districts. In 2018 Lieu launched the CA Candidates Victory Fund to support eight Democrats running in the 10th, 21st, 22nd, 25th, 39th, 45th, 48th, and 49th districts, all held by Republicans. Seven of the eight districts flipped to Democrats. Several of those flipped districts had greater Republican registration advantages than the 8th does today, which sits at just 4%, and is trending down.
“Representative Lieu’s proven track record of supporting Democrats in so-called ‘challenging’ districts shows what we already knew - this district is flippable,” said Bubser.
The 8th District stretches along much of California’s eastern border, and includes parts of San Bernardino County, and all of Inyo and Mono counties. The district includes, among others, the communities of Adelanto, Apple Valley, Barstow, Bishop, Calimesa, Hesperia, Highland, Lone Pine, Mammoth Lakes, Needles, Trona, Twentynine Palms, Victorville, Yucaipa and Yucca Valley, and Joshua Tree and Death Valley National Parks.
