Past Democratic Candidates Marge Doyle, Dr. Rita Ramirez, and Roger La Plante endorse Bubser
For Immediate Release: August 5, 2019
Victorville, CA— Democrat Chris Bubser, who last quarter substantially outraised Paul Cook, has received the enthusiastic endorsements of three prominent past Democratic candidates for California’s 8th District: registered nurse Marge Doyle (2018), Victorville Mayor Pro Tempore Dr. Rita Ramirez (2016, 2018), and Gulf War Veteran Roger La Plante (2016).
Democrats split the vote in the 2018 primary in CA-08, leading to two Republicans advancing to the general election, but are resolute in their unity for victory in 2020. This is the first election since 2012 with only one Democrat entering the primary.
“I am grateful and humbled to receive the support of these three amazing leaders in our communities. Marge, Rita, and Roger have demonstrated their commitment to the people of the 8th by stepping up to run in prior elections. To have their backing as I seek to represent our communities means the world to me--and means we truly can and will beat Paul Cook in 2020,” said Bubser.
A biotech veteran from Mammoth Lakes, Chris Bubser outraised Republican incumbent Paul Cook by 50% between April and June 2019--her first quarter in the race.
Dr. Rita Ramirez, Regional Representative, District 65, of the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), representing the cities of the High Desert in San Bernardino County, is endorsing Chris.
"There is a need for a progressive change in CD 08. Chris will work for all Americans and defend the rights of people: seniors, veterans, families, children, students, and immigrants. USA means US All."
Roger La Plante is a proud veteran and voting advocate in the Victor Valley. He ran for Congress in 2016.
“I’m encouraged that Chris is prioritizing healthcare. As a combat veteran I know that ensuring the best healthcare for the men and women who have served our country and their families is of the utmost importance. We need someone like Chris in Congress who puts the people of the 8th first, and not the corporate interests who fund their campaigns, like Col. Cook.”
Marge Doyle endorsed Chris last month.
The 8th District stretches along much of California’s eastern border, and includes parts of San Bernardino County, and all of Inyo and Mono counties. The district includes, among others, the communities of Apple Valley, Barstow, Bishop, Calimesa, Hesperia, Highland, Lone Pine, Mammoth Lakes, Needles, Trona, Twentynine Palms, Victorville, Yucaipa and Yucca Valley, and Joshua Tree and Death Valley National Parks.
