Bubser Wins Endorsement of Social Security Works PAC
Meanwhile, Opponent Warns Against “Shoring Up” Social Safety Net Programs As Public Health Crisis Rages On
July 16th, Victorville, CA -- The campaign of Democrat Chris Bubser, running for Congress in California’s 8th District, announced today that she has been awarded with the endorsement of the Social Security Works Political Action Committee.
"Chris Bubser knows that we have a solemn responsibility to take care of Americans who've spent a lifetime working raising families, and paying into programs like Social Security. And I know that she will always fight to protect Social Security and Medicare, while working hard to reduce soaring prescription drug costs. Social Security Works PAC is proud to endorse Chris Bubser for Congress," said Jon “Bowzer” Bauman of Sha Na Na fame and President of Social Security Works PAC.
“I am so honored to receive the endorsement of Social Security Works,” said Chris Bubser. “I know our seniors rely on the Social Security and Medicare benefits that they have earned through a lifetime of hard work. My parents lived within their means and saved knowing they could rely on Social Security and retire comfortably, but today, politicians are threatening to take that away. In Congress, I will fight any attempt to gut these programs, so every American has a chance to retire with dignity.”
Bubser’s opponent, Assemblyman Obernolte, has opposed attempts to ensure our community’s seniors and programs like Social Security are secure amid the coronavirus pandemic. Criticizing the Governor for “shoring up” social safety net programs,” as reported by the Sacramento Bee on April 24th.
“As Coronavirus continues to batter the health of families and the economy of California's 8th, the last thing we need is an enemy of public health and workers' benefits like Jay Obernolte,” said Lindsay Barnes, campaign manager. “He has proven that he will cozy up to healthcare profiteers, and take every opportunity to weaken benefits during public health emergencies.”
