The Health and Environmental Advocates Align on Key Issues
April 10, Victorville, CA - The campaign of Chris Bubser, Democrat running for Congress in CA-08 announced today that the candidate has won the backing of Representative Grace Napolitano who represents California’s 32nd Congressional District. Representative Napolitano joins a growing slate of California Representatives and State leaders who have met with Bubser and decided to support her candidacy.
Napolitano is best known for her groundbreaking work on mental health. As the founder and co-chair of the Congressional Mental Health Caucus, she is widely recognized for having secured mental health parity in the Affordable Care Act.
“I am so proud to gain the support of Representative Napolitano,” said Bubser. “A high percentage of our district relies on the ACA for both their physical and mental health needs,” said Bubser. “I became active in politics to save the ACA and when I get to Congress my number one priority is to expand access to affordable health care including expanding mental health services.”
"California's 8th is a special place, with wonderful people, abundant natural treasures, and unlimited potential," said Rep. Napolitano. "The 8th deserves a Representative in Congress who will fight for all of the people, who will protect those natural treasures, and who will work tirelessly to unlock that potential. We need more people in Congress who are willing to tackle the tough issues and always put the people they serve first. That's why I'm proud to endorse Chris Bubser for Congress--because I'm confident she will deliver for the people of the 8th, for California, and for our country."
“Rep. Napolitano is is a real champion of the environment and in particular her advocacy for finding solutions to Southern California’s water needs is of great importance to CA-08 and to us all,” said Bubser. “Congresswoman Napolitano is someone I envision working closely with to ensure that our district does not have our groundwater mined and exported.”
The 8th Congressional District stretches along much of California’s eastern border, and includes parts of San Bernardino County, and all of Inyo and Mono counties. The district includes, among others, the communities of Adelanto, Apple Valley, Barstow, Bishop, Hesperia, Highland, Lone Pine, Mammoth Lakes, Needles, Trona, Twentynine Palms, Victorville, Yucaipa, and Yucca Valley, and Joshua Tree and Death Valley National Parks.
